End of Year Workshop: Painting for Beginners (Thursdays)

Join experienced artist and tutor Julie Hamilton for a friendly, hands-on introduction to painting, perfect for beginners. Over ten relaxed weekly sessions, you’ll explore the fundamentals of both acrylic and oil painting in a supportive, small-group setting — with no more than 5 participants per class, ensuring plenty of individual guidance.

Acrylic Painting Techniques
Introduction to acrylics
Colour mixing and matching
Starting a painting: materials and methods
Drybrushing technique
Wash method
Using texture with acrylics
Introduction to Oil Painting
Materials and colour theory
Oils on canvas and board
Traditional techniques and personal expression
You’ll also have the opportunity to select your own subject to focus on, applying what you've learned in a project of your choosing.
Whether you're completely new to painting or just looking to build your confidence, this course offers a welcoming space to develop your skills, explore different styles, and enjoy the creative process.
